The infographic was the first type of research done for this project. It was used as a way to study the land of rural north Texas, the location of this project. I used the information from the fence types in the infographic for inspiration for railing on the park.
The original idea for this project was for there to be a ramp structure with grass on top that functioned as both a community park and daycare.
PLanning
I eventually did away with the idea of daycare and decided to focus on the ramp idea. The spiral shape was inspired by train wheels and also allowed for more park space.
Final product
The first drawing is a floor plan of the first level. Under the ramp would be gravel with a kids splash park in the opening in the center. The idea was also to have an eco-friendly design, so the splash park drains into water plants that filter the water and it then drains into a cistern. In the cistern it is cleansed again by UV light before being pumped back to splash zone. The ramp also drains into the plants below to be used in the splash zone. The second drawing illustrates the water flow and the rest of the pictures are a large study model that shows how the park would be setup.
